Travel Therapy

What is Travel Therapy?

Portraits & photo journalism for families on the go. Slow down and be present in the moment while your photographer, Annie Helen, documents the day for you.

Life seems to move so fast these days but when we take a break from our every day routines, we can slow it down and be more present in the moments that matter most. Travel Therapy Photography documents your unique memories so you can relax and enjoy those precious fleeting moments shared together.

Traveling for my family has always been therapeutic. We set off for vacation to reset and reconnect with one another. Together we have traveled around Europe, Disney theme parks, Hawaii, and around the Pacific Northwest to name off a few.

However, we don’t need to set off on a far away adventure to benefit from Travel Therapy. It can be bike riding around town, visiting a flower farm, creating scavenger hunts, and my personal favorite: road trips. As long as we are experiencing it together, we’re building upon our shared experiences and strengthening our bond. Dr. Whitbourne of Psychology Today says, “The benefits of vacations extend to family relationships. An international group of researchers led by Purdue University Xinran Lehto concluded that family vacations contribute positively to family bonding, communication and solidarity. Vacations promote what is called the “crescive bond” (in sociological parlance, a “shared experience”) by fostering growing and enduring connections. Shared family memories and time spent together isolated from ordinary everyday activities (school, work, and so on) help to promote these positive ties. Though family vacations can have their own share of stress, the benefits outweigh the risks.”

Let me know about your next adventure. I’d love to be there to document your unique memories and shared experiences.

Doing more of what makes us happy.

Life is short, photos of memories made are forever. Where should we go next?
